Ultrasound in Bankstown

What happens during an ultrasound?
During your ultrasound, one of our experienced sonographers will apply a small amount of warm gel to the area being examined and gently move a handheld probe over your skin to capture detailed images. The examination is painless, although you may feel some gentle pressure as the sonographer obtains the clearest possible images. If you experience any discomfort, please let your sonographer know.
Is ultrasound safe?
Yes. Ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive imaging examination that uses sound waves rather than ionising radiation to produce detailed images of the body. It is suitable for a wide range of patients, including during pregnancy, and does not require iodine-based contrast.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes. All ultrasound examinations are performed by appointment to ensure sufficient time is allocated for your scan. Simply call our clinic or send through your referral via our appointment request form, and our friendly Booking Team will arrange a convenient appointment and provide any preparation instructions you may need before your visit.
Are there any costs?
Many ultrasound examinations are Medicare eligible and are bulk billed. If your examination incurs an out-of-pocket expense, our Booking Team will advise you when your appointment is booked.
When will my results be ready?
Your ultrasound images will be reviewed by one of our Specialist Radiologists, and a report is typically sent to your referring healthcare provider within 24 to 48 hours. If your examination is clinically urgent, it will be prioritised to ensure your doctor receives the results as soon as possible.
