What is a CT Coronary Angiogram (CTCA)?
A CT Coronary Angiogram (CTCA) is a specialised CT scan that uses contrast, administered through a vein in your arm, to produce detailed images of the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart. To help obtain the clearest possible images, you may be given medication before the scan to slow your heart rate.
What is a Coronary Artery Calcium Score?
A Coronary Artery Calcium Score is a quick, non-invasive CT scan that measures the amount of calcium within the walls of your coronary arteries. The results help your doctor assess your risk of developing coronary artery disease and guide future management if required.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes. All cardiac CT examinations are performed by appointment and require a valid referral from your GP or specialist. Simply call our clinic or send through your referral via our appointment request form, and our friendly Booking Team will arrange a convenient appointment and provide any preparation instructions you may need before your visit.
When will my results be available?
Your images will be reviewed by one of our Specialist Radiologists, and a report is typically sent to your referring doctor within 24 to 48 hours. If your examination is clinically urgent, it will be prioritised to ensure your doctor receives the results as soon as possible.
